The mother’s legs were broken by the accident. Her baby was alive. The mother realized that she could not walk and carry her child to safety, and she also realized that her child could not make it through the night because of the severe cold.
So the mother did a very, very loving thing. She took off her coat and her outer clothes and wrapped them around her daughter. She then wrapped herself around her daughter and cuddle her all through the night.
The next morning the police found the mother wrapped around her dear child. Sadly, the mother had died. But her baby daughter was alive.
The mother gave her life, so that her daughter might live. That’s love. Love gives and gives and gives until the very end.
Jesus did something very similar for us on the cross. He just kept loving and loving and loving . . . . until it finally cost Him His life.
That’s how important we are to Him.
Let’s pray and give thanks for His love:
Lord Jesus, like a loving friend and parent,
You just keep loving and loving and loving us. Thank You that You even
went to the cross for us so that we might know how much we are loved by
You. We thank You so much for Your love. In Your Name. Amen.
