"Forever Friends"

Here’s my favorite verse in the Bible: "I have not called you my servants. I have called you my friends" (John 15:15). Jesus said those words to his followers. He says them to us. We’re his friends!

Who are some of your friends? Why are they your friends?

We usually feel a strong bond to our friends because we have something in common with them, we enjoy spending time with them, and most of all . . . we like them!

Have you ever thought about this: God not only loves you . . . He likes you! God thinks you’re the greatest! He looks and you and smiles, just like you light up when you see a close friend!

God thinks you’re terrific! That’s what we think of our friends. And just like we like to spend time with our friends, God likes to spend time with us -- in prayer, at worship, reading our Bibles, and learning like about God like we’re doing now.

Friendship is one of the special and beautiful parts of life. And having God as you’re Best Friend is the best friend you could ever have!

Let me close with this prayer:

Lord, do not walk behind me, for I’m afraid I’m not a good enough leader.
And Lord, do not walk in front of me, for I’m afraid I can not keep up.
But Lord, walk beside me, take my hand, and be my friend.  Amen.
