Long, long ago Jesus died on a Cross. It was a sad, tragic day. But three days later an amazing thing happened . . . he got up! Jesus rose from the dead.
He spent the next 40 days with His disciples, reminding them of all He had taught them. Then He returned to Heaven, to His Father’s House.
Easter is the greatest day of the year because it reminds us how great Jesus is. he conquered the grave!
Easter also reminds us that death is not the end for us either. Jesus shares His victory with us!
Here’s a great story that makes this same
point:
A pastor was driving to the hospital to
visit a man who was in the last days of his life. As the pastor was driving
along he starting thinking about what he might say to the man to comfort
him. Well, the pastor pulled into the hospital and parked his car. As he
got out of the car he rolled down the window to give his little puppy dog
plenty of air to breath. The pastor then went into the hospital and found
the room where the man was. He enter the room and closed the door behind
him, still searching for the right words to say.
Suddenly there was some noise outside in the hallway. Then there was some scratching at the door. Then they heard a bark (he had cracked the window too much!).
Then the pastor knew what to say to the
man in the hospital bed. He said, "That’s my little dog outside in the
hallway. He’s never been in a hospital before. He’s certainly never been
in this room where you and I find ourselves. He’s has no idea what’s on
the other side of that door. He only
knows one thing, and that’s that I his
master am here. And that’s all he needs to know."
The pastor continued, "I don’t know a lot about Heaven -- where it is, what it looks like, and what all we’re going to do there. I only know one thing -- God is there. Jesus is there. And that’s all we need to know!"
The Bible says, "God Himself will dwell with them. And they shall be His people, and He will be their God" (Revelation 21:3).
Easter reminds us that death is not the end! Jesus has won the victory and He shares that victory with us forever and ever!
Let’s pray:
Lord Jesus, You won a great victory on
Easter Sunday. You conquered the grave and proved that You are God. Thank
you that You share that victory with us and that we will spend eternity
in Your Father’s House, with You forever. Amen.
