Mission Statement
|
The mission of our church is to create a fellowship that celebrates and reflects the presence of Christ. Through worship and spiritual growth we will equip ourselves and go forth to share God's love in word and deed within our community and throughout the world. |
Here at First Parish Congregational Church our worship service is at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Since we strive to be a family-friendly church, our service features a children's message as well as nursery care and church school. Our pastors, The Rev. Dr. Marlayna Schmidt and The Rev. Linda Hirst, share messages that are personal, biblical and uplifting. They often use humor and helpful stories and illustrations to make the scriptures come alive. You'll find a number of their sermons on this web site.
In addition to our children and youth ministries, music is also one of the things for which our church is known. Wendell S. Purrington is our Director of Music Ministries. He's one of the most talented musicians in New England, whose abilities are only exceeded by his wonderful energy. You'll also enjoy our Children & Youth Choirs under the direction of Gina (Branagan) Connelly. Kim Karchenes, a beautiful pianist, is our Music Associate. Our Sanctuary Choir, The Men's Ensemble ("The Bow Tie Guys") and our talented soloists add much inspiration to our services.
Our style of worship is perhaps best described as offering the best of the old and the best of the new. We sing the great hymns of our faith with enthusiasm and joy. And we also sing some of the newest worship music being written today. It's all part of having a heritage of faith and writing the next chapter in that heritage. We hope you'll join us in writing this exciting chapter of faith!
