Sermon - Why Pray? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Dr. Marlayna Schmidt

Scripture: Luke 11:1-13

1[Jesus] was praying in a certain place, and after he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” 2He said to them, “When you pray, say:
Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come.
3Give us each day our daily bread.
4And forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves forgive everyone indebted to us. And do not bring us to the time of trial.”

The Journey to Bethlehem - First Parish Drive-Thru Nativity 2009

On Saturday, December 19, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., First Parish Church presented a Christmas event as our gift to the Community. Vehicles circled our drive and viewed seven scenes depicting the Christmas Story, which culminated in the wonderful event at the stable. It was a “drive-through Nativity,” a first for us. Committees worked for months preparing sets, signs, lighting, costumes, and there were many actors, young and old. The drive was be lined with two hundred luminaries, and music played from the carillon. There was a live tableau of people and animals representing the Christmas Story in a reverent and quiet setting. Thank you for joining us to see and hear our new way of telling an old story. Welcome to the Web Site of First Parish Church PDF Print E-mail

Thank you for visiting our site!  We hope you find it enjoyable and inspirational.  You'll find all sorts of information about our church, from activities and current programs to our history and heritage.  You'll also find sermons and pictures of life at First Parish.  We also use this site to inform our members of imporant information.  Such as, at last Sunday's Congregational Meeting the motion to lease two classrooms to the Town of York was defeated.  And in other news - this week's Vacation Bible School is going great!  Lots of fun, faith and fellowship.  This coming Sunday, June 28, at our 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. services we'll be celebrating the week with some great children's worship songs.  Rev. Linda Hirst will be preaching as well as leading the VBS songs!  See you in church!
